Discography
By Band then Chronologically

Baton Rouge
“Shake Your Soul”
Released 1990
This is the debut album with the band that put Kelly in the public eye.  An excellent album that shows a lot of the style that people would readily recognize as Kelly Keeling’s own in the future.  Kelly was the principle songwriter and lead vocalist for this band.

Baton Rouge
“Lights Out on the Playground”
Released 1991
Second and final album produced by Baton Rouge before the band broke up.  Better than the debut in many respects.

Baton Rouge
“Baton Rouge”
Released 1997
A postmortem release by Jack Ponti.  Described by Kelly as essentially a Jack Ponti demo with Kelly’s vocals.  Kelly was unhappy with the end result, the production falling far below his standards.  A good album but not up to snuff with the original two.  Interesting point, Kelly only co-wrote three out of the twelve tracks unlike the other Baton Rouge albums where he was heavily involved in every song.  The album also features the song “Love’s a Loaded Gun”, co-written by Alice Cooper and featured on Alice’s “Hey Stoopid” album.

Alice Cooper
“Hey Stoopid”
Released 1991
The Alice Cooper album "Hey Stoopid", was the first platinum album Kelly was involved in.  You might call it Alice's own version of Guitar Zeus, with many guest guitarists. :o)  Kelly co-wrote "Snakebite".  He also performs "Love's a Loaded Gun" on his 1997 "Baton Rouge" album.  He is part of the "East Coast Gang" backing vocals on the album as well.  Ozzy Osbourne also took part in backing vocals on the song "Hey Stoopid".

Blue Murder
“Nothin’ But Trouble”
Released 1993
In 1990, Kelly was contacted by John Sykes to join his band Blue Murder as lead vocalist.
One of the unique features of this album was it was Kelly’s only band effort where he was NOT the main songwriter, in fact, did NOT write any of the material.  After spending more than a year laying down the vocal tracks for the album, John was not convinced that the vocals were to his liking.  He proceeded to go over the lead vocal tracks with his own until Kelly had only one lead vocal track left.

Kelly spent two and a half years on the album "Nothin’ But Trouble", doing vocals, melodies, phrasing and other work.  With all the reworked material, Kelly could not see himself going on tour just to sing backup vocals and play rhythm guitar.  In 1993, the day before the band was scheduled to shoot the video for "We All Fall Down" Kelly quit.  Kelly’s credited on the CD jacket as:  Kelly Keeling:  Background vocals, Lead vocals on “I’m on Fire”.

Deep Purple
"Smoke on the Water, A Tribute"
Released 1994
Kelly sang "Speed King" on this tribute album.  Guitars on "Speed King", Yngwie Malmsteen.

John Norum
“Another Destination”
Released 1995
Best known as the guitarist for Europe who has also played with many bands including Don Dokken and Michael Schenker.  In 2001 Norum joined the band Dokken as guitarist.  This is one of John Norum’s many solo albums.  Kelly was hired as lead vocalist and songwriter.  This album features a lot of guitar and even songs that are guitar with no lyrics and some with Norum singing lead.  The tracks where Kelly does sing are excellent but overall there are so many guitar solos it becomes distracting.  Kelly did not co-write all of the songs on this album.

John Norum
“Worlds Away”
Released 1997
Kelly’s second effort with John Norum.  Kelly co-wrote all of the songs.  The album is tied together better and does not have any guitar only tracks or songs featuring Norum as vocalist.  Kelly was disappointed with this album, felt it lacked emotion.  Many fans would disagree, even say it’s a favorite.  The better of the two efforts with Norum.

John Norum
"Face It Live '97"
Released 1997

Kelly co-wrote "Make a Move", "Resurrection Time", "CYR" and "From Outside In" from this album.

Carmine Appice’s Guitar Zeus
“Guitar Zeus” -Released 1995-
“Guitar Zeus 2, Channel Mind Radio” -Released 1997-
Guitar Zeus features different guitarists on each track, thus the name of the band.  The band is Kelly Keeling, Carmine Appice and Tony Franklin.  They enticed some of the best in the business to play on these albums.  A footnote, all songs played were written with the particular guitarist in mind except there are a few songs where more than one guitarist tackled the same song . . . a guitar enthusiast's dream album!  Songs written by Kelly Keeling and Carmine Appice and Kelly is lead vocalist.

Michael Schenker Group
“The Unforgiven”
Released 1998
This is a solo album by Michael Schenker, guitarist of The Scorpions and UFO fame.  Kelly was hired as lead vocalist and songwriter.  All music is by Michael Schenker and all lyrics and vocal melodies by Kelly in this effort.  An excellent hard rock album featuring heavy guitar work.

Michael Schenker Group
“The Unforgiven World Tour Live”
Released 1999
Kelly left the Michael Schenker Group in 1999 but his vocals are featured on a few of the tracks on the live album.

“A Tribute to:
Grand Funk Railroad . . . an American Band”
Song:  “Mean Mistreater”
Released 2000
Kelly recorded Piano, Bass, Guitars, drums, vocals on "Mean Mistreater" for this tribute to one of his biggest influences .

Heaven and Earth
“Windows to the World”
Released 2001
The band that stole Kelly from Michael Schenker!  Kelly’s addition to the band turned Heaven and Earth from a Stuart Smith solo effort to a real band.  Kelly is the lead vocalist and co-wrote all but two of the songs.  Kelly feels this album is his finest effort to date.  The production is excellent and the songs different and wonderful.

King Kobra
"Hollywood Trash"
Released 2001

Carmine Appice decided to resurrect his band King Kobra and brought Kelly in as vocalist and songwriter.  Kelly had mixed feelings about this album but in today's fiercely competitive business you sometimes have less trouble getting a label to go with a "known" band name so "Hollywood Trash" was born.  Together Kelly and Carmine updated the sound and took King Kobra to the next level.  Kelly feels this album could have been much better if there had been more money to do it right.  In spite of this lack of polish, the songs are wonderful and showcase Kelly’s incredible diversity.  The bonus tracks, "Take It Off" and "Here Comes the Night" feature previous King Kobra vocalist Mark Free.  "Take It Off" is classic rock 'n rebellion, as the title implies but is a fun song.  "Here Comes the Night" is more 80's fare, but according to Appice, "This was one of the demo songs that got the original Capitol Record deal for King Kobra." so while it is perhaps lyrically a little dated it remains a valid addition to the collection.  Overall, a fun album!

Dokken
"Long Way Home"
Released 2002

In late 2001 Kelly was recruited by Don Dokken of the band Dokken to step in as assistant songwriter and producer for the upcoming Dokken album.  It has been the beginning of a beautiful friendship between Don and Kelly as well as growth for the Dokken band sound.  Kelly co-wrote six of the eleven tracks on the album as well as contributed some guitar work.

Ignition
"Ignition"
Released 2003

Kelly's song "DOWN ON MY LUCK", written with Martin Briley and Lance Bulen while Kelly was a staff writter at MCA, is featured on the new self-titled Ignition album just release on Atenzia/MTM Records.  Distributed in Scandinavia.

Currently Kelly has just finished the mixing on his first solo album.  Expect to see a 2003 release and tour!
